In my senior year at Capital University in Columbus Ohio, I was sitting at a bar with a fellow soccer player John, when we were discussing our game that was cancelled that day. It was cancelled that morning when it was raining although by game time it was sunny. So we imagined that he would score three goals and have four assists and I being the goalie would have a shut-out.
It was earlier in the year that we obtained the sports code to call in stories to the local newspapers in Columbus Ohio. So after a few beers we called in the story we imagined and waited to the next day to see if it made it into the papers.
Since we were in the same town as Ohio State we usually got a small story on page six for all of our school events. Not on this day; our story made it to the front page of the Columbus Dispatch sports section. Leaving class that morning I saw my friend John running towards me with his arms full of newspapers.
Later that day at practice we saw a lot of people come around in suits, although nothing was ever said to any of us.
