Stephen Rath was killed in December 1980 in a traffic accident. Sadly, his son, who was born a month after his death, was murdered 24 years later. Here is a link to an article:
John Koval, Sue Stine, Steve Rath and I spent our lunch time together senior year. We were close friends and had a lot of fun together. Steve was a great kid and a good friend. I was shocked to hear of the loss when I returned home from college on summer break. I heard that he was involved in a fatal car accident while a freshman in college.
I'll never forget Steve as my classmate in Math 12 (we were Mr. Murphy's 1-2 punch!). I'm always in tears when I read his autograph in the Eidolon yearbook: "Bob, You'll be a great math teacher!" RIP, Steve!
